Modern Masters

Francis Bacon

Another hauntingly beautiful painting by Francis Bacon: – Lying Figure, 1969.
Like most paintings of female nudes by Bacon, this one was based upon photographs of Henrietta Moraes. It is bright lit, sharp shadows converging with organics and the bed working like a stage making you feel like you are falling into that space. Undoubtedly a true masterpiece.
