Olaf Breuning is a Swiss-born artist who lives in New York. At metro Pictures gallery, he has bright, colorful installation of steel sculptures and large photo collages with a whole lot of humor and direct somewhat kitschy symbolism. These are staged photographs, collages, montages exploring day to day materialistic pattern everyone goes through one way or the other. These huge works are like badges you wear on your nice suite, a persona of some kind, an altered beautiful self.
Olaf Breuning has collaborated with the Public Art Fund, Maja Hoffman’s LUMA Foundation and Art Basel for large public installations at New York’s Central Park, Elevation 1049 in Gstaad and Collins Park, Miami.
